It is back.
The fish biting has come back with the cooler temperatures. I had some problems at the start of the summer and ended up replacing the PMD. After that all was good, no fish biting or other problems like it. A few weeks ago I noticed it was doing the fish biting (FB) thing at about 60 mph down the highway but it then stopped. Now to day with the temps down to 48 overnight it has started doing the FB all the way to work, 10 miles.

I do not drive this suburban every day as it is my wife’s kid mover. I called her to find out if she has been having problems and she said yes. I was told that it would do it in the morning for about 30 minutes and would clear up.

I am now faced with trying to figure this out. Could the PMD be going bad on me or should I look in some other direction.

Here is a list of what has been done to the truck

1999 Suburban 2500 4X4

• January 2008 Kennedy Diesel Remote PMD
• October 2010 New Bosch injectors & glow plugs
• June 2011 New Stanadyne PMD from PMDCABLE.com
• June 2011 Amsoil Bypass filter system
• June 2011 PMDCABLE.com oil cooler lines

Any ideas would be great.

For starters I would install a in cab permanent fuel pressure gauge and do the clear IP fuel return line swap.
Clean/inspect all grounds would be next.
But the PMD is always a suspect, new or used.

BTW,what happened with the PMD from Kennedy? should it not be warranty

Ditto on gnd recommendation.

I had similar issues once random stalling with change in weather, thought for sure it was a bad driver module, turned out to be a loose gnd at rear passenger side head just enough so that moisture had gotten in between lugs that I would have sworn were "spotlessly" corrosion free. Took em apart and a light patina of greyish oxidation was forming cleaned em up applied di-electric grease viola problem corrected.

I'd have a look see all gnds making sure they are clean, also the engine block to frame gnd is a player because the engine through mounts is somewhat isolated by the rubber in them yes therye are paths of gnd elsewhere but to keep trons at peak voltage since entire power train management is puter controlled & voltage sensitive you want to make sure the gnd there is clean.

May not be the culprit but other than elbow grease it is a free check you can make.

Where is your PMD/FSD mounted now ?

Thanks for the information. I will have to find a fuel pressure gauge and work on installing it. I have started cleaning the grounds, but need to find a list of all there locations.

I did not think Kennedy sold his PMD with a warranty. I will have to send him an email and find out.

Thanks for the information.

Kennedy only had a one year warranty on the PMD. Will have to remember to look for longer warranties on PMDs on my next purchase.

Leroy aka Burning Oil has a 7 yr warranty

Depends on what PMD you purchase-flight systems-yes 7 years is available for the same price as Heath or 1 year with reduced price.
Stanadyne-no 7 year warranty available-2 years only per his site.

To the OP-does your truck have an optical sensor electronic filter?
When they fail a fish biting condition can result among other driveability problems.

I guess I should have been more clear, the 7 year warranty is an option.

I will have to find the testing process for the electronic filter and check it out.

I need to find out what the warranty is on the PMD I purchased from PMDCABLE.COM. . The grounds all checked out. I am down to just replacing the lift pump. I want to put on the pre-filter and pump that PMDCABLES.COM has and after that I hope it stops. The next step will be to change the PMD.

Thanks

UPDATE

I finally installed a new lift pump and pre-filter from PMDCABLES.COM this last weekend.
The job took a bit longer because the battery I was using to prime the system went dead and I was thinking I had a plugged line someplace. I am very pleased with the fact that all the cold weather fish biting has gone.
