Soooo... It runs, idles and drives fine until it warms up? After it warms up it idles fast. Has a off idle power loss with white smoke. Once past 1600 is clears out and runs fine?
Any codes set?

Been having a hard time finding a reader When I did all it said IP timing issue. Also Idle has never change warm or cold always idle the same . When drive down the road and hit 1000 start or in the drive way and rev to 1000 then it starts

The guys here are going to the the actual DTC codes its setting, like this PXXXX

So the temperature is not a factor then? And at any thing over a idle it loads up with fuel so there is white smoke? But eventually it will clear out if you stay on the throttle? Are you losing any water from the reservoir?

Be patient, symptoms must be gathered, many will analyze and opine.

Go to this link and use it as a guide for the info to include here so we can help

Nope water level staying the same and only acts up when reach's 180 deg. What I have read Being My IP is Electronic There two timing settings one for warmup and changes for 180 temp. And To get the advance code info I need a Tech 2 reader with the enhance reader which will show the timing curve at different rpms and do a force learn to reset. The garages here don't have the tech reader and want to replace every thing new which i cant afford to experiment
Thanks

What year is it? 94-95 codes can be read with a paper clip in the diagnostic port.

might try ohming out the temp sender in the coolant crossover. there's a chart here somewhere
Disconnect the sensor the engine runs higher idle and runs perfect when up to 180 plug it back in and loses power timing go off. Pulled the fuse for ecm put it back in and run with the temp sensor out, no codes.seems to me the computer is making it change time because of the temp reading
Thanks

I think I have fixed the problem
After reading numerous forums: What I found was a possible low lubrication of the pump causing the stepper and timing bump to fault.
This was what I did unplug the ECM fuse under the hood and replug the fuse back in with the key in off then bought 1 qt 2 cycle boat motor oil added to the tank started with the temp sensor off the crossover and ran to 180 and then plugged the sensor back in. All seems well now

be aware that you probably just bought some time as most of the damage is probably done. ?is how much? anybodies guess

It all started when I purchased fuel from the station down the street. Since I have had the problem they shut the pumps off and been working on the pumps. I asked if there fuel was bad and they would not answer. The pump work fine till the temp tried to change it time after warm up adding lubrication seem to work for having bad fuel. There was no contaminant but the fuel looks and felt like straight kerosene.
Hopefully I can get to June with this and Buy a new IP
Thanks

unless your running an additive to lubricate you fuel all ULSD is too dry for our pumps. some people are running 2 stroke and others are running ND30w
