IP : reman? New 5521? New 5521S? Which one?

I just bought a 5521 and I believe it was a 5521s. Have not had a chance to run it yet so I cannot comment on that. I have a no name reman in the 95 chevy installed by the dealer I bought it from (tag says 5521) and it has been in the truck for 61k and only a couple of minor hiccups occasionally when running... may not be the pump as I have a fuel seep/ leak issue. I do know there is a big diff in price.

Which one of thes IP will you choose? Reman vs Brand new?, and if brand new, the 5521 vs the 5521S (which have ceramic coated internals)?
Both of them,..just the rollers.(don't know what the S stands for,..mebbe look in the stickies[ratman's pump list]

IIRC, the 'S' model code compensates for ULSD fuel. Question is whether you have ULSD or regular diesel on the island. If it is regular diesel, will need somebody with better expertise than myself to chime-in as to whether the S model supports the extra sulfur content.

Toward the specific units, check the manufacture date as I remember reading about recalls late last year on the S models and the post-recall units are good.

While I know that there are a lot of people whom are happy with a reman IP, personal preference is to go with a new unit as I got burnt by a reman last year; perhaps it was due to the recall issue, perhaps not, but the allergic reaction has since set-in.

I have 8K miles on a new S model (post recall) and am happy with it.

The coating is because the ulsd cannot lubricate as well. If you run the coated parts with high silver diesel they will just last that much longer. No adverse affects.

Ugh! It even corrected me typing "uggh" I give up. (Omg- type give slowly and it wants to change giv into HIV).

Please don't bring up distaation plants for fuel right now, work is killin me.
