Ended up with some R1 Premium rotors to replace the stock brakes. The stock set up wasn't all that bad but I hear they're prone to warping. These are 14" rotors and rather heavy.

Anyways, I got a good deal on these. Switched from a semi metallic pad to a ceramic HD pad.

Took about 1.5 hours from start to finish and didn't even need a C-Clamp. Stock brakes had 5000 miles on them.

I got them bedded in last night and so far, they're quite grabby.

Dont mind the kid with the wizard wand. He helped us out by bringing us beer.

Definitely a big improvement over factory it looks like.

Yeah, I didn't realize they were 14" rotors until I took them out of the box. I couldn't believe the size of those bastards. Good thing I got free shipping because two rotors and 4 pads was 55lbs.

Nothing better in this world than a kid that wants to help you out.

Looks sweet, would love to put disc brakes on the back of my truck.

Ceramic supposedly bites really well when they're hot. Since most of my driving down here is stop and go until I get out of town, they are biting pretty hard when I stab them. Pretty happy so far.

Glad to see you got em on. I've been swamped with work since I got home is why I hadn't called yeah yet. Give me a holler if you stil lwant to do the other stuff.

Nice lookin' hardware there Nick. I really like the ceramic pads I put on her Tahoe last year. If (when) I ever need brakes on the GMC I'll put ceramics on.

It's no problem. I figured you were busy so that's why we did this on our own. It was quick actually.

Why anyone would do a brake job in flip flops is a bigger mystery to me...

It was hot so, I don't see why this is odd. It's not we were dropping a tranny or anything.

Grady, these brakes are the same as on the police package Charger. But all the reading I've done is that they're pretty much worthless over 100 when panic stopping and they are prone to warping. I guess some people have problems with their brakes warping every 10k miles and others don't. It appears that Chrysler has yet figured out how to build brakes. They are pretty stout, especially at lower speeds when you stab them but a panic stop from 80 recently told me to start looking for replacement rotors and pads.

I usually do all my work on my truck in flip flops, shorts and an old thin white T shirt.

It is just to damn hot to wear much of anything else.

It does not help that my garage faces the sun from about noon till the sun goes down.

It is almost always 20 degrees hotter inside my garage than it is outside. :mad2:

Be thankful you have room in your garage to do work...mines a clusterfrick...

So is mine, it is over flowing with toys/work.

I have in it a:

2009 Kawasaki Teryx
1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera (FREE!)
1989 Yamaha Banshee
1986 Yamaha Virago 1100 (FREE!)

I can still work and move around in my garage but it is not easy.

Update:

When hot, they grab nicely. From what I've read, ceramic pads are most effective when heated up.
