Inspecting Harmonic Balancer

I have been wondering about spending the money on a Fluidampr, especially because I have a manual trans.

I just wanted to know what to look for in inspecting the balancer than is already on my truck?

Most of the time the rubber ring will start to bulge before it fails. Basically it's a rubber failure.

As well Nick, you want to check the belt pulley bolted to the HB as it fails the same way. If you see the rubber cracking between the center hub and the outer part, get them out of there or engine damage will occur.

There are some pix in my photo album of my HB and dampener pulley - should be some close ups there showing the ring of rubber around the HB bulging out.
