How imperative are these things? With the lines tightened on the injectors and the injection pump they seem stiff enough not to really need these?

Mine are half missing, as long as there is some rubber in between them to keep them from vibrating against each other or the valve cover I'm happy.

This is only my opinion in telling you that you are not alone not having them on.

the brackets at the intake plenum should be installed.it steady's the lines at about midpoint between IP and INJ against vibration and ultimately fatigue and breakage or wearing trough against each other or the plenum corners.
the clamps above the valve covers,i guess a guy can live without them if the lines are not tatching each other.

.....I have the ones at the valve covers. In my absent mindedness I forgot to put the ones on the intake when I put the intake back on the truck. As far as I can tell nothing is touching/rubbing anything.

GM never installs stuff that costs money if its not needed.

Replace the little clips, rubbers and other goodies.
These lines are under some serious pressure and they can and do flex as the pump operates.

These are items that need to be in place.
I have see many rigs that this stuff has become MISSING IN ACTION.
They will work without the clamps but it's there for a reason.

I always replace the little upper/lower clamp pieces at the manifold as well as the little clips at then VC's

When removing the lines, I always take them off in the "Pairs" they are clamped in and this not only keeps the lines together that need to be, it makes getting them back on very easy.

It is my opinion that those little rubber blocks by the intake act the help cancel the harmonics transferred by the pump, and keep the lines from splitting or cracking at the nuts.

Welcome to the site neighbor! I live right on the Shrewsbury Border....

Fill out your sig and put some pictures up so I know what to look for! I'm sure you've seen my rig trucking around!

Put your fingers on the injection lines when the engine is running. There is alot of vibration there. I have had them crack at the nut on the injector. They are definitly there for a reason.

They cracked at the nut when you didn't have them there? Or cracked even though you had them? Half mine been missing for 4 years (maybe longer) Even though the ruuber is there, the little screws are gone.... Gonna have to find a source for them and rechase the little screws.... However, they all feel super tight by hand.

Thanks.
