The truck is 14 years old so I ordered a new harmonic balancer/crank pulley last week.
Then my lb7 Alternator took a dive, new alternator/batteries today for my 2002 lb7.
Tuesday morning I fueled up the 6.5 and dumped 3 tons of stone.
On the way back I heard a knock letting of the throttle and a white unburned diesel cloud out the tailpipe,
Followed buy reduced power and a miss.
Sounds like injector to me as it knocks randomly in video.
Got to finish 2 jobs this week then I go on vacation Saturday.
I'll have to pick away at it to fix it, 1 year old boy/wife on opposite work schedule/lots of masonry work.
Also, fuel in crankcase.
Not a good week with both trucks going down.
Any comments appreciated, I'll have enough time to find the dead squirt before I go on vacation to the Irish riviera (an hour away, the wife would kill me if I come back smelling like diesel at the beach;)

That is what mine was doing!!! The rocker arm retainer pin broke and the rocker arm was under the valve cover bouncing around. The smoke was caused by the unburnt fuel getting past the valve and partly burning off in the exhaust. Not really sure why GM designed the retainers to be nylon.

now you're getting me growing anxious...

Cracked injectors on the turbo side and they seem ok. I listened with a stethoscope and valve cover is the source/clank noise. Going to look for a broken button as that makes sense from the raw fuel smoke and noise. Many clacky noises on these engines but this noise is not healthy. If not plastic buttons could there be more serious
damage? I'll keep updating to what I find. iPhone typing excuse the caveman english

Dropped the truck yesterday at the local heavy eqpt big truck mechanic, he lives three houses down from me. I'm at the beach/vacation, waiting to hear what he finds?

One lifter was missing its top along with the broken pushtube, cam is fine. Should be running soon! Hope this can help someone some day.
