Hey guy's, it has been a while. School has been kicking my butt. I finally have a little time to do a little maintenance to the burb.

Occasionally when I turn the key to the on position and let the gp's cycle I hear a noise inside the cab coming from under the dash by the steering column somewhere. When the WTS light starts to flash, I can hear the LP puring when the light is off and when it flashes on the clicking type noise starts. So as the WTS light is on the clicking is there when it's off no clicking. What's the prob?

It could be the controller noise but I'm not sure since it does it sometimes and doesn't others.

Innards of a "bad" glow controller out of order in the sequence for diagnostics methodology but I think you get the gist, if not PM me and we can exchange contact info & I can help you figgure it out.

WTS light is on or off and it is on for seconds.

If the light is flashing several times in under 1 second and making a relay chatter type noise... You may have a broken solder joint in the Glow Plug controller. Replace it or tear it down and re-epoxy the large loose capacitor and re-solder the joints for it. When the Controller kicks out the capacitor makes contact from the vibration and kicks it back in, the pull in vibration breaks contact and it shuts off. So it will sit and chatter for 5-10 seconds while your 9G's burn up. The photos above show a different design without this large cap. (Same vibration will affect a loose connection on the controller etc.)

Otherwise relay noise in the cab would be low voltage due to a bad ground or weak batteries including positive battery connection corrosion.

This thread and Turbine Doc's pics and explanations came at the perfect time. About three times in the past couple months my glowplugs have failed to operate causing a hard to start situation. Now I have info to deal with this intermitent problem.

Thanks Rodd for starting the thread and to Turbine Doc for the pics and explanations.

Is it clicking in series with the WTS light?......If it is, thats normal.....Like AK said it's the GP controller.

Normally before I started hearing the controller in the cab I could hear the clicking under the hood. It is just recently that I noticed the clicking noise within the cab. I'll just let it ride and see what happens. Here in Sacramento I don't need to worry about cold temps like a lot of you do.

This isn't the case with mine. The WTS light is solid for about 3-5 seconds then it flashes on and off for another 5 seconds or so depending on how cold it is out. The flashing on and off is on for a second and off for a second.
