Important reminder for all Fumoto users

Now that sucks!!!! I have a 3/8 vacuum plug on the nipple and two spring clamps to put back on before filling. So far its been idiot proof. Hope it stays that way.

one time i forgot to make sure the old filter gasket was off -and wasn't. lost 5 qts and re-oiled the county road

That's a good idea. Also keeps the nipple clean for taking oil samples.

If I had used the valve to drain it, I probably wouldn't have left it open. I didn't install it when I put the new motor in to avoid hanging it on anything. Cleaned it up and put it on the shelf. When I just did one of the oil changes I installed it and forgot I had left it open after cleaning.

Seems easier just to use the drain plug? Any other major benefit to the Fumoto?
It's one of the first things I install. Two reasons: 1) Saves drain plug threads. No more tightening/loosening and the potential for overtorquing or stripping. Also, no more drips. 2) Simplified oil changes - flip a positive-lock lever, the valve opens and the oil flows out. Flip it back to lock, and the valve closes. No possibility of the valve accidentally coming open. Simple, quick, reliable.

Best thing I've bought for my trucks. Makes oil changes super clean and easy.

That is if you do it yourself.....

I'd never want to be without one ever again. Worth every penny!

Packratt, won't forget to double check it from now on will you?:D

So I could run a hose right from my Fumoto into the sewer drain my truck now parks on top of?...

half the fun of the oil change is grabbing that hot bolt without dropping it into the pan and making a mess!

Here's how it works for me:
I roll into the shop (oil is nice & hot), slide the pan under and lay down on the creeper along the driver side. I open the valve (without burning my hand thank you), get back up and proceed to get the floor jack, stands, filter wrench, new filter, oil jugs, clipboard with records, pop the hood, jack the truck up and put it on stands. by now it's about done draining so I do the filter change, close the valve and except for adding the oil and writing it down, I'm done. If I'm not doing any other maint., I've just done a 10 to 15 min. oil and filter change. I also didn't make any mess, anywhere.
I really like my Fumoto valve!

I want one for the express purpose of cleanliness. Last time I did an oil change the last of the oil hit the skid plate, deflected and spread all over the place, creating a giant damned mess.:mad2: It's a Duramax thing. I like the vacuum cap idea, that just about seals the deal for me, I'm gonna get one...soon. POS location for the plug on these engines.:nonod:

I've forgotten to close mine once. But fortunately, the drain pan was still under it and I heard it start flowing into the pan while I was pouring the new oil into the filler - only lost about a pint. (DOH!!)

Fumoto with the hose nipple makes an oil change and UOA sample so simple and clean, I have about a 5" long piece of 3/8" tygon tubing that stays in my drain pan just for that purpose. Never have to towel out the skid plate again. I call BS on the "drain plug bretheren," the splash of hot oil on first pulling the plug, dropping the plug in the drain pan, oil flow onto the skidplate, renewing copper crush washers and drain plug drip. I've been there and experienced it all for 10 years on both 6.5 and Duramax. The Fumoto is worth every penny, especially on a 4wd Duramax!
