I've read about this tick at idle and most say it is normal and goes away once you get some miles on them. Well my conversion has now developed this tick. It seems to be most noticeable at idle on a warm re-start and seems to dissipate some once the engine is back up to running temp. I have aout a 1K miles on the oil change(ROTELLA 15W40), but only about 200 on the oil filter(I always change the oil filter 500 miles after doing any internjal engine work just to be safe). I know the valves are adjusted properly and on the tight side of the spec, and the injectors are pretty much new as well.

Has anybody found anything that reduces the tick? Any particular oil that doesn't seem to do this as much?

Both my trucks had it. My LBZ was more pronounced. Ironically, once I switched to Amsoil, it stopped.

The more miles the oil has on it, the more it disappears. Every time I change mine the tick comes back.

I about freeked out when I first heard it, I almost tore the starter out to check the torque converter bolts it was so loud at one time. I didn't notice the noise until I put on a WIX filter though, when I had an STP on it from autozone I never heard it.
