I need the specialty tool to remove the small spade connectors out of the radio connector on the 1996 Suburban. It would have to work with the female connectors. So I can repair the bad wire. I was told there was a very slick little tool. If anybody has a link to one for sale or knows something I could make to use. I have used a very slim piece of flat steel or mini screw drivers for some connectors.

The biggest problem with this connector is it's being buried so far in the dash. Is there a way to make it more accessible?

A link to my thread in the 6.5 for sale section:

WTB plug and wires for the OEM radio 1996 Suburban AM/FM Cassette, separate CD

I might be interested in a radio also. Definitely knobs.

Is anybody scrapping a vehicle?

The wires to the plug for the radio are broken very close to the plug. If I could find another plug with some lengths of wire I could cut and splice it in and plug it in the back of the radio.
How hard are the individual connectors to remove and reinstall in the plug? I might be able to just repair and splice the bad wire or wires.
Is there any way to make access to the plug and wires any easier?

here's what my tools look like. bought them at the local auto parts store.

Do you know what they are called so I could ask for them. I asked at Autozone but nobody there seemed to have a clue, even after I demonstrated what I wanted to do.

Well the screwdriver looking tool is a female weatherpack removal tool and there is also 1 more for the male. The other was a universal tool. Sounds like you need to find a diff parts store/counterman
