Santa made a delivery to my house yesterday in the red sleigh. It wouldn't fit in the stocking and the mantel wouldn't hold it. They are black like coal. It is twins!!!!!! Is the suspence getting to you yet?

I picked up twin engines yesterday. They are brand new rebuilt "overstock" 6.2 engines ,i believe. One is a 6.2 for shure. It is a 660 block and has 6.2 cast into the front pad. The other is a 599 with a date code of jan of 92 so it could be a 6.2 or 6.5. The harmonic balancers have holes in them which makes me think 6.2. The water pumps appear to be the v-belt style. I also got the remainder of the gasket set and timing gear for cps.
I'm not really shure if I got a good price though. I had to give $500 each for them. Should I have passed on this one?:nonod:):h:confused:

I told the guy that I would take all he can get. I'd maybe be willing to give a little more for them even. I suppose I should have gotten some of the big red bows like the car commercials have. Something I'm wondering and may have to post on the 6.2 page is the appearent date code on the 660 engine. Is 81 when the infamos red block 6.2s were built? I checked the heads and the injectors are fine thread.
I'm not shure which blown truck is getting which engine but both will be converted to timing cover for cps and heads removed for inspection and arp studs.I have no faith in tty bolts. A color change is in order also.

I would suspect the quality of the rebuild as the damper in the one pic is shot!!!

The crates that they are sitting in could be better. the balancer is resting on it. They will be replaced with 6.5 balancers for the conversion to electronic pumps. I plan on looking everything over. I trust no one. As said the heads are coming off for head studs. It doesn't take much to get the pan off to check bottom end.

I sure would like to have a fresh one just in a box ready to go. I almost suspect that if I had a motor ready, my existing motor would never blow. Sort of karma insurance.

Now that I have these,I will have 3 spare motors after all my blown ones are replaced. I should never have a major problem requiring a engine. I just hope it doesn't go make me buy more blown trucks to put them in.:nonod:

Great score.

Good plan to open them up and see whats inside to be sure.

Run a tape across the bore on the 599, might be a 6.5, ya never know.

There were a lot of 6.2's made from about 91 through 94 or so that were done on the 599 casting.

I had one but it had been thrashed.
The little sucker had cracked a piston and the fool ran the thing hard over the mountains and it ran out of oil. He pushed it until it lost a rod due to lack of oil.

Sad deal

Hope this deal turns out to be a perfect 10

Great price too.
