She's running so good lately that It reminds me how much I like this truck.

I bought it with 85k, have 120k on it now. Didn't have to do all too much to it after all is said and done. Very easy trucks/engines to work on. Cheap too.

In a world where 'no-news is good news', I wanted to start this thread to show new members that most of us here love our trucks, and the 6.5 Diesel that so many have deemed junk. Thats a hidden bonus for us, as it keeps the cost on these trucks down, even though the banks still evaluate these about 4-5k more than street price. (Good for loan purposes)..

:usa:

I love mine so much, I'm giving it a face lift. Hopefully, it turns out better than Meg Ryan's.

Great thread Matt.

I love my truck also! Nice to see some positive stuff written about these old 6.5's instead of always reading about problems. I'm going on 5 years of ownership of my GMC and this things cost me next to nothing. These trucks are built strong IMO.
I'm thinking I should be looking for some wood to knock on haha.

I must love them. I have a yard and shop full of them.Oops that must be an addiction. lol. I think alot of the problems are caused by po's that treated them like a gasser. The price and the parts prices of the newer diesels is too rich for my blood. Besides I like driving the underdogs. I drove a olds diesel for 340,000 miles.

Over 14yrs of ownership with a very close relationship...:rolleyes5:

DieselCash we will be driving thru Germany at Easter, but wont have time to stop....sorry...

The only reason I am not junking this truck is because its pretty unique and there is something aboutit I like. It sounds different, its low on power but gets the job done and I like the body style. Plus its alot cheaper to fix than buying a new or used truck that will break down too.

:ugh: I have a truck. I like it some days... never have loved it.. it works though ):h

Ohhh, come on Justin, stop trying to play mr gruff, we know that you have a sensitive side and that deep down you are very emotionally attracted to you truck.

Add me to the list of lovers/fanatics, I must be because I have sunk more money into this thing then I will ever get out of it, and I haven't even started on motor mods yet:D

I wanted to say that even though I was loving the way my truck has been running, my tank was clogging on me and I didn't even know it until fuel pressure eventually went to zero, and stumbling and SES light came on.

Not to mention making my IP do more work...

To me a fuel pressure guage is a must have, and this summer will NOT pass without me installing a permanent one.

I like my dually but sometimes its pisses me off!

How about when it ate the mustang last month? Hope it was an easy repair.

I have had mine for two years and other than replacing some suspension parts hammered by the POs and a new air filter there isn't anything I've absolutely had to do to it. My wife even likes it and doesn't complain when i come in with an arm full of parts and a thinner debit card.

The way we figure it, we've got a $30K truck for less than $10K.):h

I've been really happy with my 6.5 dually, pulls whatever i stick behind it and i still think the bodystyle is the most attractive. Guess i'm biased, i have 3 that are all similar but only 1 6.5.) 2 - '93 models and 1 - '97. :smile5:

That sucked and put wrench in my plans. Its fixed now and I'll be putting on some upgrades this weekend. When did you transfer to Utah?

Utah transfer

Gunner,
Moved out in December pulling the DITY with the truck all the way without so much as stumble. Now I'm using it to haul rocks and construction debris from around our new home and bring in top soil for the HOA mandated yard. Other than failing Utah's safety inspection on six points, this truck continues to provide service with a smile. Gotta love it!

I love my truck and will admit an emotional attachment to it. I have in fact had several serious relationships with Chevy trucks. This truck I have kept longer by far than any other vehicle I've ever had, I'm over 6 years now, that beats the previous record by 3 years. I have owned over 30 vehicles, 90% of which were Chevy trucks. This one is a keeper. I would like to have a quicker truck, but it does everything I ask of it without complaint. I have done some ridiculous things with it that many trucks simply couldn't do.
Hoping to save up some money to redo the body since 5 years of plowing and carrying sand/salt is beating the sheetmetal up pretty bad.
