how much are the filters when the time comes?
I will probaly make a kit up, just have to find the time.Geez, first give me a chance to buy what you already offer. (already got your pmd with cooler) You should make this a kit for people like me, what else is needed to make it a complete setup? A feed line and return line? And oh yeah you should make this a bolt on kit haha.
Thanks for the heads up on the bypass filter, I want it!
Will this by pass filter help with keeping the oil cleaner? My oil is always black.
Gee thanks Leroy. One more thing I am gonna have to get for my truck! :rolleyes5:
I'm guessing closer to 2 quarts. I have FS2500's on 3 vehicles and the Amsoil bypass on 3 vehicles. The Amsoil is easier to change.
With the older Amsoil filters the FS2500's worked noticably better. Amsoil has stated that their newer line of ilters - not so new now - matches or betters the performance of the FS2500's
When I start my vehicles after an oil change the oil goes back to black and then after 500 miles or so the oil is noticably lighter for a period of time.
I've been running 20,000 mile oil changes with very periodic sampling.
I install a T in the Engine oil cooler supply line to feed the bypass filter and return to the oil fill neck - I tig weld a nipple into the neck to attach the return line to.
On the first bypasses I installed I used the plug in the block in front of the oil filter for the supply.
I've mounted filters on the left side fender or to the right of the left side battery
Is this what you are running? its the only diesel 5w-30 I know of. "Series 3000 Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy-Duty Diesel Oil"

SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil (HDD) is recommended for extended drain intervals in engines that are unmodified and in good operating condition.
Diesel Engine Service
•Three times (3X) OEM* recommendation, not to exceed 50,000 miles/600 hours or one year, whichever comes first. Drain intervals may be extended further with oil analysis.
Gasoline Engine Service
•Normal Service – Up to 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, or longer based on oil analysis.
•Severe Service – Up to 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, or longer based on oil analysis.
*Operating conditions and drain intervals for severe and normal service are defined by the OEM. Refer to your owner’s manual.
Note: Extended drain intervals are not recommended when using biofuels containing >10% ethanol or 5% biodiesel (B5). Follow OEM drain intervals or extend drain intervals with oil analysis.
AMSOIL Ea and Donaldson Endurance full flow oil filters are designed for extended drain intervals. They stop smaller particles, have less restriction and last longer than regular filters. For best performance, use AMSOIL Ea or Donaldson Endurance oil filters.
AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Oil Filters are specialized for the removal of small, wear-causing dirt particles, thereby extending engine life. AMSOIL encourages using an AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Filtration System for maximum engine and oil life.
That's the stuff. That is what the tech support guys at Amsoil recomended for the 6.5 way back when and even last years when I called to check again.
I need to update the sig. There's been a 94 xtracab shortbed K1500 added to the stable by my son. Nice truck for $2000. about 135,000 miles off Ebay 3 monthes or so ago. It's now running on Amsoil too.
Hi Leroy, Im about to order an oil cooler kit and o rings for my truck. Do you offer a discount to site members here? If so I will be ordering today. And eventually the amsoil by pass fiter.
