I am looking for recommendation for a good heat gun for heat shrink tubing. Any links and advice wo

it does not take much heat at all. I use a cheap heat gun I purchased sometime in 94-95. I originally got it too heat up kiwi to shine my boots better. I used it many times a week for many years doing that. I currently have been using it too do heat shrink for wires.

I am cheap, I get the super cheap crap at Harbor Freight. I also have used the stuff they sale at O'Reilly's Auto Parts.

I bought a 1500 watt at Big R today. $32 I think. I didn't know if I wanted to keep it or if somebody recommended something I would return it and get something else. it was the only heat gun available without driving another 40 or so miles out of my way. By the time I got done parts shopping I never got back to the project at hand.

I never know when I might want to use the heat gun for something besides shrink tubing

This is the gun I bought.

I was mistaken. I Paid $24.99 The Amazon reviews do not sound so promising.

I saw it also on a meat processing website? What is the connection there. We've never used a heat gun for anything. We use a presto torch to burn the hair. Do they use the heat gun for the same thing? Or is there another use I might want to be looking at. I'm always willing to learn new tricks

not a bad price. they are good to keep around. But, I have a bad tendency to purchase, collect, and refuse to discard tools(even when they are broken). So with that being said I might not be the best to give advise on this subject.

It is used to soften fat buildup(and melt it off) on conveyor belts. Especially on weighing conveyors so they don't get the tare weight constantly increasing and causing underweight packages. Most plants are smart enough to use industrial grade heat blowers for that job.
Here's one we offer as an option for bacon slicing lines:

Now you know a little more about meat processing...:D

I use a lighter like most on here. I bought that HF heat gun years ago and have yet to kill it. I have a few now as I can never find it when I need it. I think they are 8 bucks with coupon.
