I never liked working on HVAC:mad2: Maybe thats why I stayed with electrical...

Who here can tell me how to can tear into my HVAC system on my truck? Its getting cold, and 90% of the time it doesn't even seem like the damn thing is operating. It makes a loud "flap" noise after about 2 seconds of me turning the locating knob(feet, de-fog, face... you know... that one), there seems to be small drips of water on the floor in the morning every now and then. And its smells bad.

Long story short, its irritating, So where do I start tearing into this thing? I want to replace my blower motor(seems to be a thread up on that anyway so good timing), and whatever accutator or flapper that directs air flow. Any maybe even where this air comes in so I can add some kind of filter so it doesn't stink anymore.

At this point it wouldn't suprise me if it was. Moneys good right now and with the axle basically ready to go in I'm tackling a few smaller projects till after thanksgiving to start the conversion. One of them being this.

Once you have had one go bad, you never forget the smell or the foggy windshield/windows.

well its not the heater core then. Sure doesn't smell like anytifreeze. Could just be mold like you said. How would I go about tearing into the system is what i'm really after.

Do you have water coming from the underside of the vehicle when the A/C is running? There is a hose that drains the condensate from the A/C area. If this is clogged with dirt, debris, or other crud the condenser will flood the passenger area.
If it doesn't drain this will lead to mold and smelly residue.

Not the easiest thing to do, I did mine this past summer took about 8 hrs to do it, I think I took pics I don't remember which disc they are on, shoot me a PM & we can exchange phone #'s.

Dash tilts down, & steering wheel per the service manual says steering colum has to come out, it doesen't, that stuff has has to tilt down to access the blower air box and the fasteners that hold it together
