HVAC box

http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?24601-Removing-the-dash-trying-to-get-to-the-defrost-door-in-my-95-Sierra-k2500&highlight=hvac

It really isn't that bad, but my pictorial will only pretty much take you through the dash tilting-forward part; I wasn't after the heater core, I only wanted to replace the box that has the vent doors in it...

once you tilt the dash out of the way, you will still have a couple more ours to remove the *entire* hvac box out of the truck, if this is what you are after. You will need to drain the coolant and the A/C, too

If you need to take apart the box to fix or replace a door, then you should remove the entire box and work on it outside the truck. That will necessitate dropping the entire dash at least 2' away from the firewall. If you just need to replace the heater core, you could conceivable do that from underneath, flexing down that portion of the box, careful not to crack it. There's a learning curve, but once you've done it once, you can do it fairly fast. Kinda like the guy here who claims two hours to replace injectors.
