I recently joined the ranks of diesel ownership when I bought a 92 Chevy 3500 single wheel with a 6.5 turbo that has transmission problems. After getting this truck, a buddy told me about a 95 2500 that I could buy for parts. It was parked a couple years ago because the engine would die at times. I've never had any experience with these engines except driving the trucks at work for a time. I have been looking for as much info as I could find on these engines and can now tell the parts guys what part I;m looking for thanks to this site. I searched for over a week on the net and didn't learn much more than I already knew until I found this place. I've found enough info here to diagnose the parts truck until it now runs. I think I will keep it and get the 92 on the road before deciding which one I want to keep.

I bought the trucks to pull my old tractors around once I get some of them refurbished. My old 1/2 ton Ford was too old and weak to do this job. My work horse for now is a 47 Farmall C. I recently got a 43 ford 2n that I need to rebuild. But my pride is my grandfather's 33 Farmall F-12. I will begin restoring it this summer.

I looked around the pages before registering and liked what I read. Not only is this place full of information, but everyone seems friendly and this place looks to have a sense of humor. Thanks for allowing me to get registered.

Thanks! I'll surely post up when I start the restoration on the F-12. Here's a shot of my 95:

151000 miles on it. The paint is in the shape of a lot of trucks from that vintage. I haven't checked the A/C out yet, but everything else seems to be working on it so far. I plan on getting a receiver hitch for it and see how it tows.

Thanks! I have already learned more than I knew I needed to know about the 6.5. And I haven't scratched the surface on the knowledge found here. I looked around at some of the posts before registering and noticed how friendly everyone is. As you know, some forums can be pretty dry, or flame happy to the newbies.

Thanks for the welcome:hello: I was pretty intimidated before finding this place. I now feel more confident under the hood. Now that I have a running truck and I'm looking through some of the other areas along with getting some useful ideas to help with the transmission troubles the 92 has. I may even be able to look at one of our brush trucks on the fire dept. now.

I had another transmission fall into my lap the other day. After swapping it into the 92 I am now able to move the truck under it's own power. I believe it only has first and reverse for now. But I know I can re-read some of the posts here and and find the other gears. Anyway, Hare's a pic of it:
