Hi all,

I'm on the way slowly rebuilding the 1994 Blazer my father in law just gave me :fing02:

I need to replace rear wheel bearings and seals. According to the VIN ( 1GNEK18S6RJ434112 ), the rear axle is a 3.73 ratio (RPO GT4)
with positration limited slip diff. (G80)

The rear end cover is a 10 bolts.

So, I assume this a 8.50 ring gear, right?, not a 9.50 or a 10.50...

Anybody can confirm?

Thanks.

Yes that would be an 8.5 inch ring gear. Be careful with that rear heard many horror stories about them destroying themselves. Had it happen to me and replaced it with a 9.5 inch 14 bolt

'Gov-Locs' got a bad rap from the billy-big-riggers that bolt WAY too big a tire on a half ton axle with big power...

Be reasonable, and you'll get good service from it.

Yes Woody, that's it :D

My father in law, a mechanic who felt in love with the 6.5, owns himself a 1997 K1500 truck, and a 1996 one will join his family soon
so, he decided to give the Blazer to me.

I haven't put pictures in my album yet as she is not ready to pass inspection and to go back to the road, but I expect very soon.
We're rebuilding her when we get a few spare time, which is not often... ;)

We have few things to fix, such as rear wheel bearings, A/C leak.

Also, I believe new injectors should be fine, as she smoke white unburnt fuel upon starting cold for a minute or so.
She start almost easy and smoke clears after a minute, no more after... I'm guessing injectors, at least you think something else?

I would..

If you are 'wheelin'' off road, let the diff lock (both tires spinning) before you romp on it.
