How much in/out play should the vac pump have?

None up and down,maybe a wee bit in and out IMO.

Thanks...I'm gonna guess mine will move about 1/16 of an inch in & out. I spotted it hunting with the motor idling yesterday...kinda got me worried now. It's still pulling real good vacuum & is not making any noise...yet
Oh & I really would not have had any issues or been concerned if I had not spotted it wondering in & out some and was tough to tell there was slop in it without unloading the serp belt.

i would get rid of it before it leaves you...then your walkin or towed.....1" shorter belt and a TM.....

Yea I guess it could chit the bed, the vac pump looks original to me...
I do agree most anything on the truck with the clock setting at 205K could be on borrowed time now I recon :sad:

If I ran the GMx turbo permanently I would use the vacuum system to get the best performance from it.
