It's that time of year where we can wash our trucks in the driveways so I was curious what everyone uses and the steps they go through to get a good shine. Post up.

I use a decent car wash solution in a 5 gallon pain with warm water.

Rinse with warm water

Elbow grease with a brush with the soap

Rinse again

Hand dry

By then Im too tired to do much of anything else.

These trucks take a lot to wash and living on a farm, its dirty the next day anyways.

I pay the mexicans to wash it by hand at the full service car wash around the corner...they do a great job...but they just have way to much fun with the train horns though...lol

there is a car wash down the street from me that does a great job for 10bucks!

i think i might actually break even having someone do it for me as opposed to washing it myself

on a nice rainy day I break out the speedo and soap and go to town. then when it stops raining I drive really fast to dry it :D

I use a long handle brush and a good name brand car wash liquid. I dry it by hand because the water is very hard here. I don't use ArmorAll or anything else on my tires. About once a year I wax the top and the hood.

why no ArmorAll??

when I actually wash it myself, I use dish soap and a wash cloth...i scrub the whole truck down, rinse it off, use a windshield wiper to squeegee the water off then use a towel to dry it, then I use a new towel for the grille and the wheels, and I armor-all the bumpers, tires, fender flares, mirrors, and handles. Then I get windex and clean all the windows and finish the grille and wheels with it. Then I get chrome polish and shine the steering setup. It takes me like 3 hrs to clean the truck...hence why I pay the mexicans...lol

Armor All is sticky and attracts dust. After a day or so, the tires look really dusty and dirty just sitting in the driveway. Also, I just don't like the look of the "slick" tires.

there's this big ditch by my house..... if i drive fast enough, it usually hoses down the truck. :D

you know dish soap takes off the wax i only use dish soap before i wax my truck cause it gets rid of the grease and wax. My buddy owns a detail shop and i help him occasionally. dont get me wrong dish soap works great to clean it but if you feel the paint it wont feel like it did before
