How do you remove the fuel tank on 95 Tahoe?

Rear mounted like on a Burb , or side like a truck ?

Either way, is your filler neck holding it in place, you need to loosen clamps on the rubber piece, and it is probably hard after all these years, squirt some PB Blaster around the joint to soften the rubber hose section up

Also rubber sound deadening strip may on top of the tank be fused after all these years PB blast that also.

As you can see here http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/csd/full.aspx?Page=103 not much to it.

This from the 94 manual may be of assistance also

We pried with a good sized crow bar and finally got it down.

It is leaking. Can anybody help out with a best place to buy a good quality replacement tank and/or part number?

I didn't see anything like that in the 96 CK books we have.

Thanks a bunch

What do I use to replace the rubber sound deadening pieces? Can those be purchased?

Get a Dorman tank instead of a Spectrum. I got the Spectrum and it's very well made but does NOT have the fuel baffle in it, so I suck a little air when the tank gets low and I corner or brake.

To late to take that advice. I got the Spectrum because it was available the soonest.

I found out that you can use any rear cross member from a rear tank vehicle. They are a little different and have an extra rivet to deal with. But they will fit

I still have not got the tank back on. I've been working on other stuff while I wait on a couple of parts.

The Fuel Tank Insulators for the Tahoe are GM part number 15705173 - the 2 foam strips that provide a cushion between the tank and the cross member It takes 2 Insulators. They come one in a package for about $5 each

Welcome to site Tim stick around and we can show you going to"qualified" mechanic not always necessary much of this is very much DIY. Nothing from driveline or suspension has to be removed ..

you have to remove the drive shaft, rear braces, and some suspension components, in addition to the back sit to get to the fuel pump accessibility lines. if the vehicle is this relatively new, ( under 10yrs.) best to get a qualified auto mechanic.

LOL. Where did you come up with all that?

Not much chance of a 1995 Tahoe being less than 10 years old. But if you find one, I'd like a chance at it.

Thanks
Jeff
