Is there an "HO" stamped or cast into the ho waterpumps. Or can you tell by the part #??

Thanks!! I am pulling radiators and cleaning out bugs/dirt etc. Also cleaning the fan clutch bi-metal strip so the fan may actually kick in.(adjusted it to! To kick in earlier). I was going to buy a ho pump, but i already have one! Bonus!

I recently cleaned the radiator and the other coolers - it makes a huge difference. I did use a combination of Castrol Super Clean and Simple Green. I used a pump-up sprayer with a spray wand attachment. It worked very well. I was able to go over every square inch of the radiator, spraying into every opening.

I admit I did NOT actually completely remove the radiator. I removed the electric fans, and undid the top radiator mounts, and pivoted the radiator away from the frame. Also, I loosened the AC condenser and the oil and tranny coolers, and moved them away from one another. I also used a garden hose sprayer with a very small head to actually get in-between the various "heat exchangers", and probably did 3-4 "Spray/Soak/Jet Rinse" cycles. A LOT of bugs, dirt, leaves came out, and by the time I was done (like 4-5 hours later), they were just pristine. I wanted to avoid taking everything apart, and I think I succeeded in getting the radiator pretty darn clean.

I also put fiberglass screen-door mesh in back of both my grills to block bugs from clogging the works in the future.

It has made a HUGE difference in running temps. I have an HO water pump sitting in my cabinet ready to install, just haven't gotten to it. However, the radiator cleaning on the Tahoe has dramatically reduced the overheating tendencies I had before. It was 90 degrees the other day, and I went up a 14 percent grade for like a mile, and it did not go over around 205 degrees. Before, I would have to pull off 1/2 way up and let it cool before continuing.

Good luck!

AHHHH I see. It doesnt matter with my fan. It bolts on. I got the best one i can have with my fan. Just wondering what the flow difference was.

It didn't pump any more coolant, but it was balanced to flow evenly to each side of the engine. I believe it was something like a 52% 48% split between sides whereas the older HO pump was somrthing like 32% 68% flow. The article is around here somewhere that HEATH published on this with the exact details.
