Just wanted ti introduce myself and say hello. My name is Chris and I am new to the diesel world. I bought a 86 F-250 Centurion Conversion truck with a 7.3 idi 4 speed. From what I can see this is a post 1988 engine. Anyone tell me where I can find the vin # in the engine?

Welcome to the Truck Stop Chris!

What specifically are you looking for in regards to the engine? Right off the bat I can worn you of this. The 7.3 IDI blocks have a cavitation problem. They react negatively with the coolant used in the blocks without a proper additive. Running without this additive will cause the coolant to eat away the block(literally) until you wind up with swiss cheese for an engine block. Check with your local Ford dealership to see if they carry this additive and or where you can get it. Also, check with some heavy Duty truck dealerships(such as Navistar or an International dealer) for test strips that you can use to check the level of the additive. They are pretty cheap and great insurance to have. Recommend that you check your additive level every oil change just to be safe and always add some if low. Better to have more than recommended than less.

Do you have pictures of this truck? I'd love to see them and I'm sure there are plenty of others here who would agree
