i just finished redoing win xp using the recovery disc,i tryed to save my last set-up and files ,but now i have a d:recovery partiton and can't get it back on the c: drive[no i didn't back-up my files like i should have]

Dmaxx sounds like maybe you installed on a new partition, you may have to run setup again and choose location for setup. delete d and format then install to c
