I was wondering if anyone has or had the same problem lately ? I have about 61400 miles on her . I hope its an simple fix . I really don't know how it would be excessive exhaust when using an blocker plate . I hope soneone could help me in this problem im having , and im not blowing any or much black smoke like when I first got the truck .

Code:p0402

Modules:ECM

Description:Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Flow Excessive

I would check all the finger stick connections. Easiest thing to start with.

ill try to do that tomorrow after work . they look all good when i looked at them today but i might have missed something ,
thanks CTchevy427

The EGR valve could be malfunctioning. I know its blocked and stuck but they have been the weakest link with LBZ/s so far. I'm on my 2nd EGR. Otherwise, I'd check the connections.

Well, you never know. The whole reason you're getting the codes is because one of two things. Either the fingerstick isnt working properly or the EGR itself is throwing codes because, - the fingerstick isnt working properly. If it is working, you shouldnt be getting any codes, unless the EGR is a bad part.

well i installed the fingerstick abt 2 years ago and about a year ago it threw the same code and erased it and it went away , but NOW ITS BACK and im not happy . i saw black soot on the pass side of the where i think the EGR valve is

Then you've robably got a problem. I would replace the fingerstick before you do anything else, assuming you've checked all the connections first.

fingersticks are known to fail. i've seen some trucks will go through them like babies go through diapers.... whether the units were bad or wiring was done correctly i don't know. i recommend getting efi live or a tuner with capabilities of ghosting the code. JMO :)

Might be worth the $45.00 to get another finger stick to try. Please keep us posted on how you make out....

well the lite went out last week after i filled up with fuel , then yesterday with my wife goin up the island the lite came back on and the the code was the same P0402 then today it went out . I think the best thing to do is order a new stick

At this point that seems like the easiest thing to do. Good luck and let us know if this takes care of your problem.
