Help me wire cs alternator - 89 6.2L suburban

I am looking to finish this up. I need some confirmation on my wiring. I went with a cs style alternator. It has a pigtail with a red wire (to battery) and a white wire (to ignition source). It also has a small (3/8") post. Here is a pic:

I believe that I should run a decent sized wire (8 guage) from the post to the battery and from post to glow plug controller. The red wire from pigtail also goes to post. The white wire on pigtail goes to black wire from old Alt wiring (goes to firewall into bunch of other wires) with a resistor wired in.

The large red wire needs to be used as a voltage sense, I like to run it right to the battery or at a master junction close to the battery. The white wire needs to go through either a warning indicator light(not an LED, but an actual bulb), or a 35-500 ohm 1 watt resistor. Napa makes a harness(EC82) with the resistor built into it if you want to go that route, or go to radio shack and buy a resistor.
 
You will regret the POS CS-130 alternator you dropped in over the OE style the '89's had. I recommend anti seize on the bolts holding it in as it will be coming out over and over again. A better choice is the CS-144 that didn't push the thermal envelope of all the innards including the bearings. It takes a different rear bracket to run with the serpentine setup you now have.

GM switched to the CS-130 in the trucks in the mid 80's. I have an 88 outside with a CS-130 on it. it isn't a great alternator for idle output, but they do seem to work OK. The CS-144 is a MUCH better choice, no way to argue that.
 
They overlapped years. Our '88 V1500 6.2 diesel burb was old school 78 Amp SI and never gave us any trouble aside of belts... The plug on OP picture looks SI. Other than munching brushes often on some stuff I have fond memories of trouble free operation with the SI units. The CS-130 I have yet to see fail due to brushes. If anything they improved the brushes and/or the units die before the brushes wear out.

What the OP has/had can make a difference. I would bet the CS went on just the gassers and maybe not the 'old body' R/V diesels. The NBS had serpentine belts in 1988 for sure as well as S-10's. Maybe it was the old body style that kept the SI units gas or diesel? I sure would have liked the serpentine on the 88 6.2. Although I do miss the A6 compressor AC system...
