My wife and I are transplants from Fairbanks, Alaska. After 27 years in the icebox, we are starting to thaw out!
We have had our '84 Suburban 3/4T 4x4 since 1996 (when we hooked up) and drove it down the ALCAN. I transformed it from a 350 gas to a 6.2 right off the bat. Since driving down the ALCAN a couple years back, it has it's 3rd motor in it. Last year the engine broke the crank going up the I-5 corridor and had it towed to my son-in-law's place. Three days, a few beers, and his lower 6.5 married to the 6.2 heads are giving it a new lease on life.
I bought a rust-free 1990 3/4T 4x4 Suburban that has a blown 6.2 for a grand some weeks back. Am in the process of nailing down a turbo-version Optimizer if at all possible. I was fortunate in finding a person that has a serpentine setup for my future setup (big wish list item) and already bought a Fluiddampnr and Banks Turbo system for the future engine. Was glad to see someone posted how to read the date code on the Optimizer block and that drew me in here to become a member! I hope to learn a few more odds and ends about the Optimizer 6500 and learn from those you have this engine.
IS there a thread about this engine I haven't seen yet???? Thanks folks!

Welcome to The Truck Stop! :welcome2:

I think you'll find a wealth of 6.2-6.5 experts hang around here all the time.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!
I have experienced a transaction from a forum user that has gone south. Not good. For anyone wanting details, please PM.
As for the Optimizer 6500, I am now a proud owner of a brand new, .020 over, forged crank, diamond precups, HV/HP oil pump long block for $3500. IF you find one better or cheaper, please let me know!
Thanks again.

hopefully not one of our members...maybe from another forum?

but if what you say does pertain to one of our members then by all means, lets try to get this sorted out/resolved and hopefully everyone can walk away happy...

Welcome! There are great people here, and on the occasional get together, it feels even more like family. Sure there's a few odd ball troublers out there, but all in all, there are great people here.
