so i ordered arp head studs today and a plethora of other parts that the truck needed. my question is what assembly lube should i buy for the studs.

Every ARP kit I have ever bought came with a packet of thread lube, so I would think it will be in the kit you bought. That is what you want to use on the nuts. Not sure if you need sealer in the block, maybe others can comment on that.

I think it's called ARP Moly lube

Yes that it the stuff. The instructions should list several torque specs, make sure you use the one for the lube you are using. I can tell you the first time I assembled an engine using lube on rod bolts was a little unnerving, but that is how its done. You will really like the ARP fasteners, they are really well made.

YESSSSSSSSSS the studs must be sealed in the block threads.

ARP's instruction sheet should mention what they want done in that area.

If not you can either dip the end that goes into the block in High Tack or use high temp Orange silicone on the threads.

See what ARP says and move on from there. If you dont seal the threads it will leak for sure.

On the block side of the studs you need to use thread sealant. Which i just used permatex, it was like 17 bucks for the tube. Then you need to use the moly lube on the head side of the stud. THis ensure minimal friction so torqueing can be done accurately. My arp kit did not come with any of these liquids/pastes. So i needed to buy them seperate, and of course at the time of purchase i couldnt get the stupid moly lube anywhere. So i went out in search for plain old moly lube. And at a local tractor supply i found a tube of moly grease. Prolly not the best thing to use, but it is the best i could do. The instructions say to use oil if need be, but the lube is the best way to go.

As far as the stud lube you cant go wrong with the lube ARP suggest, but for the block do not use silicone it attracts water and will rust the studs not good. I use as well as all the engine builders at my work, use either Loctite 565 tread sealant or teflon sealant the stuff in a small jar with a brush you can get at the hardware.

The Permatex liquid Teflon© stuff is by far the best thread sealant for nearly anything out there. Use the ARP lube on the threads that the nut goes onto, also under the surface of the nut, where it contacts the washer (if it comes with washers) :)
