Hard vacuum line for tranny ???

This got hung up and damaged when I pulled my engine. Can it be replaced with a soft line??? Tranny is a TH400.
 
You can if you want, but it wouldn't be hard to bend a steel brake line to replace the stock steel line.
 
I have done them with rubber, hard brake tubing, copper tubing.

Having the steel line and then connecting with the rubber is a nice way to go.

The line usually runs down the dipstick tube and is held with little clips
