Though it might be too soon as I haven't get anything to work on at the moment.

Here's the goal :

My 6.5 is almost well tuned now, I don't think I will go further in mods on her.

A guy went home this week end and asked for buying her. I'm not set yet, but as I need "fresh money" to finish building home, maybe I'll sell her , as long as proposal price is a good one...
Nothing's done yet, but idea is on the way...

Probably I will then buy a small car, what I call a "truck suppository", for moving.

As soon as possible, I first think I will buy another truck.

Then, another idea shows up :

instead of buying another truck, why not building a project car.
Unfortunately for me, I don't think I can discover any MOPAR or else here, and I don't know yet what I could find.
Probably if I'm lucky enough, I could find a 1960 or 1950 Ford truck or Chevy, or may be something like a Willys or else.

What I would like to know at the moment, is, if I decide to completely change the power unit ( of the future unknow project) and replace it with an engine + tranny, what should you recommend me ? Is a couple engine + tranny an easy thing to find ?
For these engine, I believe there's no ECM, so it might be an easy swap, but what about the tranny ?

I'm not looking especially for a muscle car, but I need a V8. When you have owned a V8, all other engines look as not true engine... and nothing can replace a V8 song. ):h

Well you can never go wrong with a sm block Chevy and TH350 trans. They have the most parts available anywhere and give plenty of ponies for the fewest $. Aftermarket stuff is endless for them.

Only if it's a TH350C and the "C" part can be worked around. Any decent trans rebuilder can make it work just fine without the computer.

I have been thinking of getting an old truck and doing the same thing. I was going to add a 6.5 to it, since parts are cheap and this website is a great resource.

I'm a diesel guy right down to the core, so I'd vote to put a oil burner under the hood. I'm looking at getting an old International D-30 or KB-6 or -7 and dropping an International DT360 (or DT466 if it fits!!!) in there with a manual tranny and making one sweet truck.

I've always wanted to build a muscle truck/car veggie style. Camaro, TA, or 70's shortbox 2WD chevy/gmc pickup.

Unless you're getting EVERY PENNY plus your time back from all the work you've put into your beutiful truck don't do it!

If there is another reason you must unload it, that's one thing, but you have such a nicely tuned, nice rig, unless you're getting HUGE money for it don't do it.

Make sure you incorporate cost to replace in your sell price.

Sell it, and you'll regret it.

I know, I know, Matt, that's a true dilema.
But I won't sell her for a regular price, this is not a stock truck, so I will not accept "stock" proposal.

I have similar thoughts from time to time as you Matuva, but everytime, I think about selling, the end is, that I keep my truck. Why ? Beacuse I know what I have and I dont know what I get then. So until someone would pay me the money, that would be enough for a new D-Max, I'll never sell my truck, cauz I know waht I have and I love what I have. Cars/Trucks are like women - Keep the good and throw away the the bad ones.

A build/swap that i have always liked and considered is a late 40's eraly 50's Chevy truck. Stuff a 350/th400 in it and down the road drop a 6.5 in the place of the 350. A D-Max engine would really be the way to go but the 6.5 would drop in with few mods.

Sorry, myth.

Bah humbug.. F150's where its at. lol 351w stroked out to a 393, 408, or you could go for a 427 w/ a after market block. http://www.fordstrokers.com/ford-st...rotating-assemblies/351-windsor-stroker-kits/
Well, I'm certainly not gonna argue the point but if you open up any speed eqipment catalog (Summit, Jegs, PAW, etc) and check the availability of parts to hot rod an engine, I believe you'll find a huge advantage in Chevy SB parts over any other brand.
