Man, that's BEAUTIFUL! He mentions at the bottom that he'll set up a private auction for $4K or 'some reasonable offer'. $3500 for a brand new, virgin motor sounds mighty reasonable to me! Wow, what a hoot that would be! ):h ):h

I know there's a lot to be said for seasoned blocks and the fact that we can rebuild one of these motors for less than that. BUT.... new.... never run...

Wonder what I've got around here that I could sell this weekend.... Ya know, impromptu spontaneous garage sale.... :D

Remember ,there is NO warrenty on this engine. You have no idea how this engine was stored and for how long. A while back a place near chicago was selling new gm 6.5s for something like $4700 with full warrenty. I think the place was called crate engine depot.

I put about 4200 in my rebuild, but about 600 of it was front end parts. No warranty either. So i guess it would be kinda the same boat. Biut if you spend another 1500 more you can get a new engine and sick warranty. That would be the way to go...

I'd have a hard time sinking $6500 into my 95, that would tally up a grand total of about $10K that I would have in it with what I paid for it.

Now maybe that would not be that bad for a fresh diesel motor / diesel truck. Really when ya look at it like that, they want almost $20K for a newer diesel pickup & some of them have well over 100K on the clock...& have been saddled with a friggin 12K trailer for every driven mile.

I'll prolly have to make that decision someday, just hoping it's like 100K miles from now, mine is nearing in on 200K on the clock. I purchased it for $3,300 clean as a whistle & well cared for & only used to tow a bass boat. It's difficult to find a clean one for cheap that has not had the ever living grab beat out of it...but they are out there.

So, if this is an NOS crate motor from GM, then is it the circa-2000 oil-squirter block? Or something else?

I googled "6.5 Optimizer Diesel" and came up with a vendor called "65engineparts.com" who claims to sell these things for around $4.5K.

Are they any good? Are these actually optimizer engines from AM General/GEP?

-Rob

P.S. Mods: I am assuming that having the dot-com name but not a direct link is OK?
