We had a big storm Saturday afternoon with high winds. I didn't get it too bad but it was real bad about 15 miles SE of me.

The common denominator of all these bins is they were brand new within the last 3 years which got me thinking that maybe the steel gauge got thinner to cut costs or the quality was reduced. IIRC they are mostly Brock bins. One other thing is they were probably empty since harvest is coming up which will make them weaker.

There was some buildings down too.

What a mess...! Alot of flattened corn too that won't be standing back up this time.

Most the time they can use SOME of the lower parts of the bins. That sucks though. Straigtening that steel (if thats what you wanna call it anymore) is usually out of the question.

Our local elevator had the same thing happen a few yrs ago but it was bout 1/2 full and split at the bottom into main street.

IL grain bins- I was wondering about that neck of the woods when I saw the radar, looked nasty.

Had a bow that originated Chicago blow through here a couple weeks ago, people without electric for 2 weeks.

You can keep it.

Made in "China" bins ?

I have an empty bin sitting in the middle of an hayfield since i bought the place 18 yrs ago, floor is all rotted out.The bin hasn't moved yet and we had some wicked blows over the years that blew neighbors bins, round bales and barn roofs all over the place.
But maybe he's up for grabs next time?....better sell it before it happens eh.

All those bins were Sukup brand. All in the same area, my guess they all thought they wer getting a good deal. Guess not...

However, I took a look around today some more and I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself but one guy had a concrete stave silo snap clean off midway down. Maybe there was a joint there...:dunno:

Saw several cattle sheds down like this one.

Yeah that's it. The weather man called it something like that. I think the guy is a hair-lip so I didn't catch it at foist.. I thought he was making up stuff.

That's the bow shape line that moves 60-70 mph. I know they didn't do us much good.

I was on wiki checking out the 'derecho' thing and just noticed they had the radar intervals of the actual storm that got us Jun 29.. It was kinda crazy for a while.
