i clicked x and it started is scan right away. so i closed everything i had open and started my super anti spyware. i hope nothing came in.

I think I had this one before. I hate them damn viruses! :mad2:

I have had that happen two or three times to me also. So far nothing has come of it. Good approach to start your scans to make sure your clean..

I should mention that I sent a link to Malwarebytes to a friend last week who had Antivirus 2009 on his machine and it (AV 2009) redirected the link to another site that tried to sell a registry cleaner. So make sure when you use that link that it takes you to Malwarebytes website and the software that you download & run is Anti-malware. If you have Firefox, open the link in that browser as it is less likely to be hijacked.

It could be that your friends computers browser has been hi-jacked already with a hi-jacker and it redirects already. It would be best to send it to them in an email if possible and when they run it, disconnect from the internet.

This is absolutely correct... and just so nobody starts feeling invincible, the last four computers I have cleaned for people that picked up this problem were ALL running Firefox.

Sounds like you may have got it, Joe. Remember to clear your cache to make sure there isn't a temp. of it laying around.

no thanks john, i downloaded it. i appreciate the offer though. i have no ill effects and am running it now. i was doing it monday morrning but the little guy got pretty sick so i left work and just got back.

Don't click the X to close it - ctrl alt delete and shut down your web browser from there.
