I don't know where this should be but if its in the wrong place feel free to move it mods. My question is, $500 to much to pay for a 6.5? All I know about it right now is the block has been baked (I hope he doesn't mean while it was still in the truck), new cam bearing, crank has been turned .10, heads have been pressure checked and it has the rods & pistons, I don't know if anymore parts come with it or not he hasn't answered my e-mail yet, thanks.

I just found another 6.5, shortblock 90K pretty greasy , has timing gears housing & water pump, balancer, it has the turbo setup, exhaust manifolds, turbo, intake manifold & some other odds & ends for $200. it came out of a 95.

I've been paying $2-300 for complete blown engines. Very easy to get your money's worth at that price. Any that are claimed to be "GOOD"need to have the oilpan pulled off and main webs checked. Very high percent are cracked. #7 and#8 cylinders are places to look also.
There are 2 extremes on craigslist minneapolis. One complete except ip $500. One complete plus extras$1900can be run and driven.

Thanks for the replys guys. The truck I just bought is a 6.5 N/A so the one for $200 for the short block and the turbo setup is appealing to me. Just missed a 6.5 runner with a Banks turbo setup on it for $500 and it was right close to me.

What years did they put the F manifold on seems like thats the one thats popular? Thanks again.

The "F" lowers are all pretty much the same. The 92-93 upper has no provisions for intake air temp and boost pressure sensors.

Thanks for the reply BK. What manifold would come on a 95 6.5TD the motor I called on was suppose to be a 95? Thanks.

The 8th number of the vin will tell you if it's an F or S engine. If you don't know the vin the top of the intake will have an EGR bolted on it if an S and nothing if an F.

So then I guess you read the vin from the right side and F means its a turbo and S is N/A, thanks.
