I bought the gmtd scan tech software and connecting cable.I can't get it to connect to the truck. It keeps coming up as com port closed. I've tried plugging it in to every port on the laptop. Do I need to turn off the firewall or try to disable norton security?:mad2::mad2::mad2: Stefan doesn't seem to know why it won't connect. At the moment ,I'm feeling like I threw over $200 in the toilet. I know that it should work, but won't. Thanks in advance.

Go into the tools section and click on settings. The com port should match your computer's com port.

I tried that. I connected the cable to every port and tried. Port not open,it says. That's why i wonder if the firewall needs to be disabled and norton shut down.

Hmmm strange, I have Norton's on without any problem..I had when I first got mine as NVW said ,I had to go into the tools..to do a fix...

I remember having to change COM ports on mine.

Try shutting down firewalls and see what happens...

Boot up with the cable connected a USB port. Use the same port every time.

When windows boots, go to control panel -> System and then Hardware tab and click Device Manager,

expand "Ports (COM & LPT)" It should show you which COM port the ALDL converter cable is. Set GMTDScan Tech to that port and try to connect.

If you don't have a COM port listed, report back here and we will figure that part out.

I got a e-mail back from stefan this morning. I had to go to the aldl cable test then to settings and change com port. then quit gmtd scan tech. Then restart scan tech and match the ports. It's up and running now. Thanks for the help. Now the problem. Why doesn't the trans [0 miles] not make low pressure. I'll start a new thread when i get stumped on that
