Glow plug resistance to ground?

94 C1500 6.5TD with no glow plugs coming on (no dash light either).

I disconnected the glow plug harnesses from the relay and tested the relay as OK (12v on GP lug as long as they are disconnected when the key is turned to start).

After disconnecting the glow plug lug, and checking resistant to the ground, it shows as 1-2 ohms... I think this means I have a short right? I would expect the plugs themselves to have more resistance to ground since they are heaters. Anybody know what the resistance to ground should be from the lug on the relay?

Don't know about the total resistance as I check the plugs one at a time . Most of them check out at about 1 ohm .

I thought the glow plugs themselves were supposed to be something like .03 ohms of s resistance.
If you have a buzzer on your tester it will be going off if you check a good glow plug.

I check each individually with the wire unhooked - so you aren't checking all of them at once.

With the wires hooked up, if one is good it will show whichever you are testing is good also

Sounds like you are in a no start situation with no Wait to Start / Glow plug light.

If there is still a check list here. Fill it out.

You can hotwire the controller. I have had changing the ignition switch fix a no WTS light situation. But never on a 94.

There are other things that will also keep you glow plug light from coming on

Is the bulb good?
The relay can have continuity but not enough to carry the amps (worn contact) so voltage is not conclusive?
Is the GPs cable are good?
As far as checking GPs, you need to take it out and glow it carefully.
In a lot of cases, the GPs can ohm test as good but not glowing.
