Alright.. So here goes it.

So far, I have:
- A really nice "506" Ted's motor and some nice newer fuel lines on engine stand.
- All new fel pro gaskets with + .010 head gaskets on the way.
- A parts donor motor (my buddies old motor) hanging from the cherry picker with these goodies for me.. fluid damper, gear drive timing set, arp head studs, DB4831 - 5722.. 310 hp marine pump.
- A really nice GM 8 turbo that supposedly has been sent out and modded.. not sure on the details to that just yet.

I still need to get the upgraded water pump, D-max fan, dual thermostat crossover though to have my engine complete.

No need for the dual stats. Single stat works just fine and flows as much.

My buddy that I got it from, bought it brand new from Stanadyne.. I think he paid like $ 1,500 for it.
He sold me the DB4, the fluid damper, a modded GM - 8, gear drive timing set, and ARP head studs for a whopping $ 1,000.

I want to fill out my sig. but it wont let me. I alsowanted to add some pics and it's not letting me do that either, I have Photobucket.

Most recently, I have installed my ARP head studs and fel-pro + .010 head gaskets and have gotten them all torqued down and I have gotten the gear drive timing set installed... I have taken some pics but I still have to grab them off my camera and up load them.

I was quite surprised when I opened this engine up.. I had a hell of a time trying to get the valve covers off, I think they were glued on at the factory with some super gasket maker. Anyways, This engine that I have received from Ted's looks "Brand New" on the inside, not a wear mark anywhere. the bores are still cross hatched and have NO wear marks, the tops of the heads look like brand new cast, hell even the underside of the valve covers are clean as new. I'm guessing the only time this engine was ran, was at Teds on the engine stand.

Nice beast. Like said, id stick with the single crossover, the duals are over-rated. Singles are much easier to fill and bleed the system good.

New Fel Pro gaskets..

I'm hoping it runs really good and really reliably for a long time to come.. I literally have no experience with diesels, so I bought a Haynes manual before starting this project.
I am soo glad I came across this site, there are very knowledgeable people here that I hope can help me along the way because I will be needing some advice / help here before too long. Maybe even if there is somebody near Mid-Michigan that could help me get this thing timed and running right when installation is complete.
