Has anyone used the brake controller harness to wire up their gauges before?

Asking because I'm considering finally putting in a set of gauges and noticed that the brake controller harness has all the wires needed right there, even the lt. brown wire for illumination. If it works, this would eliminate the need for fuse taps or hacking into the factory harness to get power and lighting.

Cant say that I have ever seen it done that way,but Im no where near electrician status.
 
If everything you need is right there I say use it. Much better choice than the alternatives you mentioned.
 
I use them for gauges and for the connections to energizing relay banks. Just make sure the gauge (they come in 16, 14, 12 and 10 gauges) can handle the current draw (don't know what gauges you will be installing).
