my gas gauge started acting up, when i start to slow down my gas gauge jumps up th past full and sticks then goes to empty, then back to full untill i stop or start speeding up again,it does if i let off the gas, turn the cruise off or hit the brakes but corrects itself as soon as im back on the gas

Many refer to it as the accelerator or Go Pedal and fuel gauge :)

Like always, check grounds, look around the fuel tank for grounds on the filler neck and try to find wires that go to the sending unit inside the tank and find that ground.

You have a gas gauge in your diesel ??
I couldn't resist.
:D
Sounds like a typical GM fuel gauge to me. I've rarely seen one that works properly.

There is a ground wire off the FSU connector by the tank. Take that off, wirebrush and re-install seE if that helps.

it was working fine on saturday on the way to the hospital, she sat for 2 days and just started doing it, but it only does when slowing down

Try cleaning the ground (and signal) connections, as mentioned

And remember: a Diesel-engined vehicle requires Diesel fuel, not gas - it has a fuel tank, not a gas tank - you look at the fuel guage, not the gas guage - you stop at the fuel station, not the gas station - you fill up at the fuel pump, not the gas pump - you remove the the fuel cap, not the gas cap - green handle, not black handle - you pay for fuel, not gas - your truck gets fuel mileage, not gas mileage - it gets fuel economy, not gas economy - it may need fuel additives, not gasoline additives - fuel is Cetane-rated, opposite of and not Octane-rated - you step on the accelerator pedal, not the gas pedal - the fuel filter needs changing, not the gas filter - you then may have a fuel leak, not a gas leak - the odor is of fuel, not gas - you may have gotten a tank of bad fuel, not bad gas - fuel, not gas - and last, but not least, that rumbling in yer tummy is gas, and not Diesel fuel (hopefully!) - that odor is of bad gas, and not fuel, but never mind that! - keep those things in mind, and you won't be back on here in a few days\weeks, with an upset stomach and wailing because you filled the fuel tank with gasoline (patooie!) instead of Diesel fuel - and are trying to blame it on your wife\kids\dog\etc!

Word up, eh..........

X2 it pisses off my family that i substitute every word for fuel instead of gas

And, just to really piss everybody off, gasoline is also a fuel...............
