Anyone see this updated TSB on fuel conditioner/additives?

http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?t=16740

For the 6.5 GM use to specifically recommend Stanadyne additives but seems to have backed off that recommendation and now offering a GM part number as recommended. Seems like once the warranty is over they pretty much go for the money (more profit margin in selling gm stuff made by ????? and dropped Stanadyne as they probably charged more and retained thier name on the product). In some fairness I imagine it has to do with stocking mutiple additives and decline of 6.5 customers and more 6.6 trucks but still kind of makes you go hmmm. And why I am skeptical at following all factory - GM lube recommendations as "best".

The TSB is good info on emulsifiers vs demulsifiers though.

I used Stanadyne additive regularly in my 99 6.5TD Tahoe, because it had a Stanadyne injection pump. I've used FPPF Total Power in every drop of fuel that has been burned in my DMax. I'm not sure that Stanadyne additive is the "be all to end all" just because of the GM endorsement - it was fine in the 6.5 but I'm happier with the FPPF in my Max and I'm still running on the original injectors at 8 years and 165,000 miles which I credit in part to the use of the FPPF.

Could be rebadged but it took them an awful long time to rebadge it. Might have rebadged to make it more universal for 6.6, 6.5, and any medium duty series engines???

I am wondering if now that they don't have to support many warranties with Stanadyne parts and availability of Diapco parts etc they are finding the cheapest vendor for supplies like additives. Might have strong armed Stanadyne for GM badging and price but I suspect its another cheaper product. Maybe just as good or better even but I don't care for the illusion that if it says GM on pkg then its recommended and best just for having GM on pkg. I like to know who makes stuff, where, and as much as possible about it.
