I ordered a Fumoto Oil Valve when I ordered the Filter-Mag. I got the "N" version which means it has a nipple so you can attach a hose to the valve. I also ordered a cover and lock for the open/close lever. I will install all of this when I change my oil. The part of this that sux is will not be able to use it on this oil change.

I will ad more pictures later, this little thing is a pain to get a picture of.

For you 6.5TD guys / gals that wants one of these, our trucks takes the F101 or F101N.

Does it splice into a cooler line or tap into the pan? Just trying to figure out the purpose.

It screws into the pan, replaces the drain plug. It is designed to make oil changes mess free. I will have to see that to believe it. I have yet to this day changed my oil without getting everything within a 10 feet radius covered in hot used oil.

It is also designed to make oil changes simple by having to use no tools.

I will add to this when I install it with more pictures.

Would be nice for taking oil samples too! Thats what I was hoping for.

I dont change HOT oil, usually just let it idle for 10-15 min or drive a mile down the road before changing it. I usually leave a small dribble when I change the filter.

I left the oil sample part out. Yes it would be great for that.

Too me anything above my body temp is hot.

I am one of those lucky people that can get sunburned in less than 30 minutes.

i used one on my gasser and i loved it. i would like to get another for the 93 but i think i am going to put a small valve i have or another type of fitting that i have used on the fuel and pressure gauge. i'll take a pic.

Marty, the days of getting dirty and burned with hot oil are over. It is a great thing to have but make sure your not in a hurry. The draining is slow. Start draining first then go do everything else you have to do then come back to it. It is really good for doing oil samples. I take mine with the truck running.

looked at the threads and they are something i did't recognize or have and i couldn't use one of the valves i had.............. so i rethreaded the pan and these are my options:

has a plug on the end that is removed to drain, with a 90 degree bend, no tools,

uses a hand screw valve, no tools,

an airline fitting, insert male end to drain,
my fave,

use flat screwdriver to drain, only one needing a tool. it would also have the fastest drain time due to the opening size.
reason for all the time and work is: it's free.
not sure if i will do this, might just get a fumoto. did this on a spare pan.

this is post #1000....

The Fumoto drain valve for the Duramax is a must so you can drain oil and miss the skid plate. Without it, the oil hits the plate every time. Definitely a good mod. The oil changes take a little longer, but I drain my oil directly into the old gallon jugs of oil from the last change. Clean up is easy.

Hm, that is a good point about the skid plate, that's annoying as hell. I was worried about it getting bumped off at one point, but it looks like that is taken care of by the clamps.

I might look into it. Any of our vendors sell 'em?

Ed, there really is no worry of the valve opening up on its own due to a spring detent inside. Only if I did serious off-roading where I was constantly going over logs and stumps would I be concerned. It provides just enough length to miss the skid plate. ;)

Gotcha. The big thing we go through is fields w/ corn stalks, but I don't think they could do much, especially with the way Bill has his.

I've never had a clamp on mine like Bill's does and have never worried about it but I think it's a good idea if you're gonna spend any seroius amount of time in corn stubble. With me it's grass and hay so I don't worry.
BTW, I got mine from Lubrication Specialist (Greg)

Changed the oil today and installed the Fumoto oil valve.
