Fuel tank removal

x2, undo the 2 straps and the fill hose. IIRC there is a ground also

Can I diconect the fuel lines from the tank while its still up or do I have to Lower it a little.

You will have to drop it some, but make sure you disconnect the fill hose at the fuel door before you drop it. 3 large torex or philips screw I forget witch

Empty fuel 1st even a little sloshing makes removal awkward if doing by yourself, PB-Blast the bolts for the straps makes life easier, you'll also want to PB-Blast the connecting fuel line fittings on top of the tank, get the correct metric wrenches, 18 & 16 mm I think, they won't slip off the fittings as easy

What does PB blast mean. Do you know how many lines are going into the tank? Also is the gas gauge wire a big proble. First time taking a tank of for me so i'm alittle nervous

PB blaster is a thread/bolt loosener. You can get it at any parts store. wd40 will work as well.

Dropping the tank is not that hard, like others have said. I chose to take the bed off of my 97 6.5 because it had been well used and never cleaned before I got it.

I lowered the tank on 2 upside down 5 gal pails to get to the fuel hoses, and loosened the fill hoses at the tank too, after loosening the filler neck.
The General was pretty skimpy with the fuel line hoses lenght as far as i'm concerned.
