I thought I read about a plastic screen in the fuel manager.I have mine out and don't see a screen. Should there be one?

With the filter removed, you should see the screen which is molded into a plastic retainer. It slides over the riser pipe sticking up in the center of the fuel manager. The plastic starts out white, but may be more of a shade of brown after a bunch of time/miles. When properly installed the top of the screen/retainer should be 1.034" below the top of the pipe.

where can I get a new screen? I don't think I have one in my '94 either.
Dealer?

if you have stuff large enough to get stuck in that screen coming through your filter you have issues.. i took mine out cuz it looked like it was gonna break and fall apart if i left it in.

It's there for a reason. what if you get a defective filter that comes apart or some how had a piece of debris in it. GM spent alot of money putting it in there for a reason and I don't think they put it in because they were feeling generous.

For what it is worth... you could splash debris past while changing the filter. One thing I always do when changing filter is take out the vacumm tank and suck all the fuel out of the fuel manager before installing a new filter. Remove the pump relay, hot wire from battery, to use the pump to prime the new filter.

Man that makes sense, guess I'll replace mine.

I did ask about this one other time and thought that it was suggested that there is anohter screen located at the IP inlet, true or false?

Yes the IP inlet has another one. The tolerances on a DS4 are EXTREMELY tight. This is not an old Bosch IP of a mercedes from the 80s. The little thing can screw it up.

Oh sh!t. There's a screen that goes on top of that pipe? Can you get that at the dealer?
