it started acting up after it came out of the garage after the head gasket replacement, and only when it rained. now it does it whenever the hell it feels like it. out of nowere, it just decides to read no fuel, then a few seconds later, it comes back to where it was. i started it up tonight, and watched it, and it bounced between full and 7/8 and back and forth a few times like it was to a beat. i am planing to replace the steppers in the dash anyway, but wasnt sure if that was the issue, or if it is the sender on the tank. thanks for any insight.

I was reading something lately about a connector somewhere along the harness on the frame that makes that happen after it gets some moisture in there. Sorry I don't have any more info than that but just thought I'd throw the possibility in.

im not sure nick. dont know too much about the fuel system that far back.

thanks for the thought mike.

rained tonight, and no movement of the guage. i did notice that before i shut it down for a few hours tonight, that i had 275 miles on the trip, and had a little less than 3/4 of a tank. turned it back on, and down to a half tank, and didnt do the little freaky dance it does. wierd.

Maybe your gauge is bad...Bad thing is the whole cluster needs to be replaced from what I hear. I still would think its somewhere in the sending unit or something back there. There's gotta be something telling the gauge or ECM how much fuel is in there.
