I have a ruff runing engine. Just started. Pulled the intake off and had a fuel leak on the IP, bottom line. Looked at the fuel lines and at the base of the fuel filter are two lines drain and out, drain line is hooked to IP and out line to T valve. Is this right? has been this way for two years.
It seems to have a miss in it, truck shakes going down the road. Could the fuel leak cause this as air is entering the system?

I just had the same issue with my truck, it turned out that the line going to the drain valve ( t-handle) had a crack in it and was sucking air. I would strongly suggest replacing both hoses to avoid any problems seeing as tho they are 14 year old hoses.

It probably shakes because youve been getting all that water and sediment into your IP and injectors, which might be fouled.

Cross your fingers that it all works after you correct it.

No not right, out goes to IP (filtered fuel), drain (non filtered) is supposed to go to T handle drain valve, also you are possibly starving the IP, as it is feeding through the smaller ID of the drain line, plus crud of unfiltered fuel direct to IP, there is a small final screen on IP inlet fitting that may be plugged up some as well.

Remove the fuel shutdown solenoid, which will give clearance to the fuel inlet fitting, 3/4" thin wall socket IIRC and remove the transfer regulator/inlet fitting screen slides off and you can remove trapped crud in it.

The miss and shaking just started last week after i changed out the PMD and the alt. I changed out the fuel lines(replaced & rerouted). changed all 8 glow plugs and controller and am installing a boost guage, while I have it apart. Anthing else I can change? I reworked the inner fender so I can acess the turbo side without removing the whole inner fender.

Just got finished now. Started it up and smooth as anything, no miss or shakes. Got a slight coolant leak on heater hose line at thermostat housing.
Next job brakes, but thats another storey.

there was a crack in one line at the clamp. i replaced both lines, and the clamps. also i had 2 IP lines loose. i made up a special wrench to tighten the 2 bottom lines. now i broke the fitting off for the heater hose.

I cut it to get acess to the base of the turbo, glow plugs, and the down pipe. I put rubber door stop on one side of the cut, left a bolt hole at the rear and put a clip on the front edge. I will take a pic of the finished assembly tommorow.
