How often should I change the fuel filter in the Duramax? I've heard so many different things and would like a collective answer.
Thanks for any input.

I would say don't wait any longer than ~10,000 miles. But, that's my opinion. :)

But, 1 bad tank of fuel could get a brand new filter. So, always carry a spare.

The projected life expectancy of the fuel filter on the Duramax is 15,000 miles. Mine usually gets changed at that interval, however i have had to change it as soon as 7k. But according to GM change it every 15k.

7K-10,000 for our trucks, but we do run a small percentage of biodiesel so it clogs those things up fast.

come to think of it, I havent changed my air dog filters since i put it on in july, maybe a good time to do that.

I started running B11 in summer alot of the time last year and yeah, 12k would be pushing it with Bio. They looked pretty used up by then.

i cut mine open after 10,000 and it was done.

Our TDI Jetta went until my mom said it couldnt hold 60mph. well it had about 20,000 miles on it and VW reccomends 8,000. There was a lot of algae growing in it and it was one o0f the dirtiest filters ive seen. Easy to change though

every other oil change, every 10,000 miles! dealer recomends before 14000 but recomends it at 10,000

In the beginning I changed my fuel filter every 5000 miles (every oil change), then I installed a Racor pre-secondary fuel filter. Now I change both filters every 10,000 miles. I didn't follow the owner's manual because I was worried about injector issues, so I made up my own intervals. I know I'm probably over protective, but I don't really trust fuel quality either. My $.02 worth.

I change mine every 15k or if ity becomes clogged before that. I also run a FilterMag on my fuel filter to trap any rust from a station I may pick up. I feel its cheap insurance.

I think the FilterMag is a good idea too, and I run one on my pre-secondary filter. Ferrous material will kill LB7 injectors more quickly.

Mine seems to start losing power around 6-8k miles. a quick filter change and its as good as new again. I'm not sure but it seems like the bigger the tune the shorter the filter life?

The bigger the tune the more fuel you are pushing through the filter. Also the more fuel that is needed for the higher HP tunes the more the filter clogging is exposed.
