What is a good cheap fuel additive to run in my 93 6.5 3500? Is something like 2/stroke oil good to add into each tank?

yep,, Do a search for "2 stroke" and you'll find ton's of threads on the amount used,, I use BioDiesel I make myself as an additive, and as a 75% mix in the tank during the warmer months.

I use the gray bottle of power service and two stroke oil. I do an overkill in some peoples minds.

But I am just trying to buy some time on my truck.

It has 184,000 miles and to my knowledge has original everything under the hood.

219000 on mine replaced injectors at about 180000. Other than a vac pump delete and a turbomaster and glows everything else is stock. Oh and a cdr

Thanks AK that makes me feel a little better.

I am mainly stressing my drive home in two weeks.

How much two stroke do you guys put in a tank? I think my tank is a 30 gal,not to sure.Never let it get completly empty.

I used to put 1:200 of 2-stroke, which translates to 16 oz. in 25 gallons, along with 1:400 of Power Service, which translates to 8 oz. in 25 gallons. Now I blend with wvo instead of the 2-stroke, and I'll still use either white bottle Power Service or another anti-gel additive along with it in the winter.

Marty, I just turned over 200,000 on mine. I've become convinced the miles mean very little on these 6.5's, if maintained and running well there is no reason to think you can't run another 50,000. How far is your trip home?

I think it is about 800 miles. I will make it. ):h

800 miles will be a piece of cake. I took a look at your album, the truck looks to be in fine shape.

As I drove into work last week I stopped to talk to a friend - he laughed and said "I expected to see you broken down at the side of the road by now, you're having good luck with that old diesel". I'm putting over 600 miles a week on it and its running great, I'd take it anywhere.

That was a question I got a lot while working at Heath Diesel, especially during times when diesel prices went way up. Still the best but hardest to get at times is the Stanadyne Blue fuel additive for year round use and there Winter 1000 during times when it gets below freezing. Summer months I liked to also add a qaurt of 30wt. regular old Walmart brand motor oil. I spent an entire day with one of the main warehouse distributers on the West Coast and found they recommend 100% to all customers with a Stanadyne IP the Stanadyne Blue additive. Don't get me wrong they sell other brands but for the DS-4 and DB-2 pumps, they say nothing else comes close. I add the oil during the summer months for a little extra cetain improvements and lubrication. Many diesel shops sell a case of about 24 8oz. bottles for like $85-$99. One 8oz. bottle will treat up to 35 gallons. Thats only around $4.12 per bottle on the high side, which is still cheaper than what you get from most gas stations and much better for the specific needs of your IP and injectors.
