i ran across this info by GBurton, posted in 2002 on TDP, here's an excerpt:

.........add one or two additional batteries.............GM produces..........diesel van,.........Savana. The second battery is located on the outside of the frame rail under the drivers seat. It is in it's own removable battery tray that is bolted to the outside of the frame rail. The GM part number is 15017904....................can not mount it on the drivers side on our trucks because of the emergency brake cable on the outside of the frame rail and fuel lines on the inside.
However, the passenger side frame rail is clear. ..........box comes with 4 mounting holes, 2 on each side. The top holes are "key hole" shaped slots to allow you to hang the box assembly over the bolts during installation. The bottom bolt holes are oval slots for alignment.
........bit hard to service the battery but I don't know where else to install an extra battery or batteries in our trucks.............
i found this on fleabay for 25.00:

not sure but think this the tray he was talking about. all other trays for frame mounting are at least 50.00 each which is without shipping.
has anyone had an ideas to do the same and want to give any thoughts on it?

thanx for the links. drop out is 100.00 and i read about it at another site. it is a great unit for sure but can't spend that right now. and the weld in just doesn't look that strong. looks like it is more for the trunk on a solid floor.

I know there was a military setup that was floating around somewhere that relocated the batteries to the frames. I am not sure if that is what you were looking for. I would personally prefer a covered battery setup much like a boat.
