i found a guy on craigslist that has to 6.5s i got the casting numbers and date codes from him one is a 93 599 the other is a 94 599. the one is a mostly complete motor with the mainfolds and the intake just minus the turbo, it also was in a 94 so it has a ds4, it was drove into the shop when they pulled the motor, he said he was told it has a spun main bearing though. the other is missing some parts and he said it has a bent crank?? :???:

he said that he would like 450 for them both but im also going to have to take into acount the 3hr almost 300mi drive just to get them

what do you guys think?

Seems like a gamble if you're paying $450 on two motors with issues that could cost you much more in the end.

However, you've got a lot of experience pulling these things apart so the gamble may not be so much to you as it would be to someone like myself.

Call him back after you've come up with an additional question or two that may better quantify what the issues are with them.:???:

Oh yeah, You'll need to add the cost of traffic tickets if you plan on covering 300 miles in 3hours.:rof:

thats what i was thinking what is a ds4 bringing these days? not sure which model would have been in a 94 but i bet 250 would be a decent price

Let me know if it is a 5068 w/ a rebuild date or something on it, I might buy it.

If he will let you take a peek at it w/o the oil pan then I would say go for it.

I probably shouldn't say this but, it has a familiar ring to it from a year and a half ago. a trip to Iowa. Sounding familiar?
A boyce engine is garenttied as is a ted engine. Rebuilding one of these, if useable, costs what a 2004[10 year newer] ted engine costs.
Just my $.03

Sounds like these engines had serious issues to be pulled out.

Guaranteed to run starts at $1200 delivered.
Cranks are worth $75.00.
Cracked blocks worth about $60.00 scrap metal with cracked heads.

Frustration over ripping out a cracked cheap good deal engine that is leaking and did not make it around the block is best avoided.

Well that dose sound like a good deal im going to call this ted tommorow and get some more information. i think that even if i bought the 2 599 that i have found i am going to end up spending close to $2000 and if i buy the "ted" engine i will be into it for about the same after shipping and the few other parts that i would have to buy.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmm decisions decisions???
